To all the Friends of the Coastguard Cultural Centre,
This has been a year like no other and we have all had to make huge sacrifices since Covid19 arrived on our shores in March. We at the Coastguard Cultural Centre have endeavoured to stay open and operate strictly within Govt guidelines both inside the Centre or outside in the garden. We have had exhibitions in our gallery and beautiful local crafts available in our shop and online. This has been the year for adapting and then adapting even more as time went on. Thanks to our terrific staff and our great participants from our local CE Scheme and TUS Scheme, we have so far weathered the storm. We just wanted to let you know about the various activities we have in the run up to Christmas.
Cafe – We reopened last Friday, 4th December 2020 and were delighted to welcome our customers back into our socially distanced cafe.
Takeaway service – This service continues in our garden in tandem with the Cafe, weather permitting.
Crafts Shop – We have a beautiful display of locally created crafts in our retail space in the Cafe.
Crafts Online – We have a brilliant website highlighting our crafters and this can be found on www.coastguardcreatives.ie
Outdoor Crafts Fair – We have converted our courtyard to house a crafts fair on set nights and at the weekend.
Exhibitions – In the Cafe Art Space we have the excellent work of our well-known local photographer Sinead Boyle.
Gallery Exhibition – We are delighted to have an exhibition of the work of another well-known Waterford artist, Lupita De Bhail.
This is the 20th Anniversary of the formation of Tramore Development Trust, our umbrella organisation and non-profit registered charity enterprise.
To celebrate this important milestone we have arranged a Christmas Lights display in our gardens, our courtyard and all around our premises.
We have been provided with a magnificent Santa Letterbox so hurry up to the Coastguard to post your letter to Santa himself. The pinnacle light is a Large Star of Hope which can be seen from the Promenade and around the bay. We hope that this beacon will bring cheer to everyone in Tramore.
Clearly, we have a lot going on at the Coastguard Cultural Centre in December and we look forward to welcoming visitors over the next three weeks.
We attach a notice with our Centre opening hours together with details of the Christmas Craft Fair. The lights will be switched on in the evenings of Wed to Sat from dusk until 7 pm.
And finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported the many activities that we run at the Coastguard Centre.
